Bianca (or better known to her friends as Cozi) is a Year 12 student from Everton Park State School who has completed the CHC24015 Certificate II in Active volunteering through our Students as Active Volunteers Initiative (SAAVI). Only 20 hours was required to complete the course; however Cozi volunteered over 100 hours of her time!
Cozi is enthusiastic and dedicated in helping others as she volunteers at numerous local community events such as under 8's days at various primary schools and the Neighbour Days' Easter Egg Hunts at Teralba Park. She also volunteers her time gardening at PCYC Hills District and Meals on Wheels, all of which has given Cozi the feeling of self-worth and the opportunity to develop her confidence through gaining experience and building relationships. Cozi feels that it is a good opportunity to meet other people who face similar challenges to her own and enjoys the feeling of helping others.
After completing the course, she has taken the initiative to enrol herself in face painting workshops and has been able to apply these skills at the different community events she volunteers at. Cozi will continue volunteering and face-painting as it "has given me the skills which I can use in paid employment or be self-employed" in the future. Well done Cozi!
Congratulations on being one of our SAAVI Students of the Term 2, 2017. For her efforts, Cozi was presented the SAAVI Student Term Award and a $40 Gift Card.
