National Volunteer Week
This year sees the 30th anniversary of National Volunteer Week - the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation's volunteers. Between 20 to 26 May, thousands of events (such as award ceremonies, morning and afternoon teas) will be held to say thank you to the 6 million Australians who volunteer their time and efforts. This years theme is Making a world of difference - highlighting the significant impact of volunteers in the community.
Volunteering Queensland invites and encourages you to get involved by hosting an event during the week to thank and celebrate your wonderful volunteers. Here's how you can get involved.
Queensland Volunteering Awards
A local highlight of National Volunteer Week is the hosting of the Queensland Volunteering Awards 2019 - an award ceremony acknowledging and honouring the inspiring efforts of volunteers, volunteer managers, volunteer-involving organisations and businesses that help bring about positive change to the community.
Nominees, finalists and recipients will all be honoured at the ceremony 10am to 12 noon Friday 24 May at Brisbane City Hall (Ithaca Auditorium).
The Queensland Government is the major sponsor of National Volunteer Week.
