Melanie is a thoughtful and mature student that has quite actively embossed the values and practice of volunteering during her study. For her placement, she participated in a school-based volunteering project, undertaking a wide range of tasks based at Bundamba State Secondly College as well as Rosies - Friends on the Street.
The tasks at school have included supporting other class members in catching up with lessons, assisting staff with tasks such as cooking groups, IT auditing and other administration tasks.
In addition to helping her be more organised, Melanie has also learnt leadership skills and conflict resolution. The positive response from both staff and students has really impacted the culture of the school’s classroom and the school as a whole.
“Melanie has improved her skills through taking initiative with this project. She has personally sought out volunteering tasks through approaching staff members and inquiring if they need assistance. She has developed very effective leadership qualities this way.” Peta Jordan, Senior Teacher, English/Active Volunteering, Bundamba State Secondary College.
With wish Melanie all the best for her future and congratulate her on being our SAAVI Student of the Term 1, 2019. For her efforts, Melanie was presented the SAAVI Student Term Award and a $50 Gift Card.
