Christmas is often a time to celebrate with family and friends, however many other families and individuals are often doing it tough and may need that extra support during this festive season. 2020 has been an especially challenging year and there are many in our community who will be needing extra support.
Volunteering Queensland and other volunteer-involving organisations alike are inundated with requests to help in the lead-up to Christmas. Volunteering opportunities may vary from retail assistants, food drives to gift wrapping. We will be regularly updating any opportunities on our website. Due to the impact of Covid-19, face to face volunteering opportunities this year may be limited.
However there may be other ways you can assist including donating non-perishable food items, toys, books and other gifts to your local charity. If you don’t have the time to volunteer, why not take the time to check in with your neighbours? Many people, especially the elderly spend Christmas alone, so a friendly face can make a world of difference.
