The Volunteering Australia Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Pearce as the new Chief Executive Officer.

Board Chair, Michelle Ewington said, “After an exhaustive and rigorous process, I am delighted to announce Mark Pearce will be the new CEO of Volunteering Australia”.

“We received a high calibre list of applicants which is a testament to the strength of Volunteering Australia’s position as the national peak body for volunteering. The selection committee undertook a comprehensive recruitment process to select the right candidate to lead Volunteering Australia into this next phase”.

“These are challenging but exciting times as we see the volunteering sector adapt to the events of 2020. This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Volunteering Australia, and under Mark’s leadership VA will continue to build strategic partnerships and advocate for acknowledgement and recognition of the contributions and impacts of volunteering in Australia”.

“Mark brings with him a wealth of experience in the not-for-profit sector and is a passionate advocate for the power of volunteering to transform lives”.

Mark commenced as Interim CEO in June after the departure of Adrienne Picone. Mark will join the team at Volunteering Australia in Canberra when COVID-19 restrictions allow.

In accepting the position Mark said, “I’m thrilled to lead Volunteering Australia at a time when articulating the criticality of community participation and building strong and innovative partnerships to support volunteering led solutions is so very important”.

“I look forward to working together closely with the federal government, state and territory peaks and the broader community to build the infrastructure to ensure volunteering thrives into the future”.
