Claudia Jones is an 18 year-old volunteer who is studying a CHC24015 Certificate II in Active volunteering at Seton College.
Claudia supports a wide array of organisations in both her school and wider community.
Claudia has been actively involved with the St Vincent de Paul Society covering fundraising duties and recently participated in their 5 cent Challenge, managing to collect 115 five cent coins. Independently from her school, Claudia assists in Buddies Day, a one day event in which children from disadvantaged families have the chance to participate in recreational activities and games.
Claudia has volunteered at Kid’s Camp twice, working with children between the ages of 10-12. She is involved with the Breakfast Club at Seville Road State School, where she assists in serving on a fortnightly basis. Claudia was also a volunteer for Homeless Connect in May 2015.
As part of the Joey Scouts, Claudia instills the values of helping other people and the importance of the environment to young children. As a Platypus Helper, she is responsible for organising weekly activities such as tree planting for a group of 6-8 year olds.
As Claudia said, ‘At Buddies Day I make a difference; I love volunteering and it’s fun. I get to learn new skills especially with Scouts. I will keep on doing volunteer work in the future, as it is good for building your Resume and meeting new people’.
Claudia also holds a Certificate III in Disability Care and will this year complete her Traineeship.
Needless to say, Claudia’s main interests are in bettering her community through assisting in youth development, disability and aged care. In her future, Claudia wishes to apply her vast volunteering experience and forge a career in disability support and aged care.
Congratulations Claudia and we hope you enjoy your Year 12 formal and graduation ceremony!
