5 November 2024 sees the 25th International Volunteer Managers Day. In celebration of Queensland’s tireless volunteer leaders, we are hosting a complimentary, face to face workshop for volunteer managers prior to our 2024 AGM on 7 November.

In recognition of the IVMDay 24 theme “What’s our future normal?”, this workshop will explore elements of volunteer management in a digital age. We’ll hear from a leader of volunteers who will share her personal experience of utilising digital technologies to support volunteer management, and a member of the Brisbane Ranstad team who will speak on volunteer recruitment strategies.

Vicki Meyer, Volunteer Services Manager at Inclusee will impart her expertise on how to effectively manage volunteers in a virtual environment.

Vicki Meyer manages the volunteer services for Inclusee, a virtual social support services for older Australians. With 300 volunteers who only engage virtually, Vicki has fostered an exceptional sense of community and created valued opportunities for collaboration, personal development, and connection.

Recognising the changing needs and motivations in volunteerism, Vicki has focused on increased engagement, inclusion and adopting the new National Standards for Volunteer Involvement. Recent initiatives have included launching a tailored online training portal and “Kindness Crew Community”, and encouraging volunteer staff to pursue professional development with a focus on inclusion, safety and wellbeing. During her time at Inclusee, Vicki contributed to the organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan, supported neuro-affirming practices as a member of the KIND committee and psychological safety initiatives within the organisation.

Vicki is the recipient of Volunteering Queensland’s Excellence in Volunteer Management award 2024, Governance Foundations for Not-For-Profit Directors program 2022/23 from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Leadership for Transformation scholarship with the Institute of Community Directors Australia.

With over 20+years not-for-profit experience, Vicki also serves as a virtual volunteer as a Board Director for Story Dogs, Secretary and HR Sub-Committee member for Friends of the Koala and is currently a mentor for Volunteering Victoria’s mentoring program.
