Wesley Mission Queensland’s Youth and Family Services are looking for mentors to volunteer with participants of our ParentsNext Program at Beenleigh. ParentsNext is a specialised support service that helps parents with children under 6 to plan and prepare for their future employment.

The mentoring project is part of the government’s Fair Go Australia initiative. Mentors will support and guide our parents who are getting work ready over an nine week period, for 1.5 hours a week, every Wednesday between 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm. Initial mentor training will be provided on Wednesday 24th January between 12:00pm and 2:30pm (2.5 hours). That is approximately a 15-hour commitment over the 9-week program.

We are looking for volunteer mentors that are compassionate, good listeners, understanding and who are able to explore ideas and options with the program's participants. We ask that all mentors are able to commit to the full eight-week program. All mentoring takes place in a supported fun environment at the Beenleigh Family Centre.

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for experience in the community services, education or employment fields, or anyone who would just like to meet new people and give support to parents looking to enter or reenter the workforce.
