About this opportunity

The Marketing and Media Engagement role includes marketing of Signal Flare and our events, the copy writing of print and online media, including the graphic design elements.

This volunteer role requires, on average, five hours a week, predominantly in the lead up to events. Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a great opportunity for someone looking to assist a worthwhile cause. Progression within the organisation exists for people who are looking to gain experience in different aspects of event management.

About us
Signal Flare was founded by Grant Richards, better known as Grant the Polite Guy, who himself was homeless for one and a half years when he started the BBQs. We organise a minimum of four BBQs per year around the greater Brisbane area. At these BBQs everyone shares a free BBQ lunch and our guests also receive much-needed basics such as clothes, shoes, toiletries, non-perishable foods and children's toys for free. These are all donated by the community. At our events we regularly offer free haircuts, job search workshops, and employment opportunities with employers who volunteer at these BBQs. We promote social inclusion and equality. People from all walks of life come together and find connection and friendship at our BBQs.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:
" Maintaining existing marketing channels
" Creating new marketing channels
" Drafting press releases and media articles
" Coordinating the design and printing of marketing materials required on an annual or event basis
" Keeping Facebook, LinkedIn and Website up to date and current
" Organising annual raffle
" Generation of an information sheet / promo sheet / brochure for potential sponsors, media, interested members of the public.

" Report to Managing Director
