About this opportunity

This rewarding volunteer role would suit applicants that love animals and are committed to improving their welfare; people who wish to experience hands-on work with animals and understand the health requirements for them.

You will be responsible for:

• Cleaning of the animals themselves and bedding and pens which involves removing dirty bedding, hosing or wiping out enclosures, sweeping and scooping up of poop, cleaning litter trays, and providing clean bedding and toys and ensuring that the animals remain stocked up with food, water.

• Providing enrichment to the animals under your care by walking them around Trinder Park.

• Playing and spending time with all animals and providing them opportunities to interact with residents, toys and people where appropriate.

• Engaging with residents either individually or as part of a group offering genuine friendship and conversation around their interests or specific subject areas.

• Assisting with a range of support tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the Lifestyle/Creative Programs.

• Providing regular feedback to the Volunteer Coordinator.

• Supporting the development of an atmosphere and environment in which collaboration, creativity and joy are embedded in the service

If you enjoy doing something physically demanding, appreciate all aspects of animal care, and don't mind being outside getting a bit dirty, whether in Summer or Winter, we want to hear from you.

Additional requirements

  • National Police Certificate*
  • Others
Any Working with Animals - Certificate to Degree level qualifications

Volunteers must maintain a positive national police check.

A willingness to learn new skills, the ability to work independently and strong communication skills are highly regarded.

Volunteers must attend a screening interview prior to commencement and training.
