Event Volunteers - Brisbane Memory Walk & Jog
Dementia Australia QLD
One off - an event
About this opportunity
Dementia is the condition that will have the greatest social and economic impact on our time. In QLD there are an estimated 77,633 people living with dementia, our services have never been in higher demand. For this reason Memory Walk & Jog is not only a vital fundraising drive for Dementia Australia, it is also an opportunity to raise community awareness, promote the importance of healthy lifestyles and encourage the community to come together in a fun and active way to make a difference for Queenslander's impacted by dementia.
This year's Brisbane Memory Walk & Jog event will be held at Southbank Cultural Forecourt, Southbank Parkland on Sunday 26th May 2019. We need volunteers on the day from 6:00am to midday in a variety of different roles. I encourage you to volunteer for the event, and invite your family, friends and colleagues to join you.
No special skills, experience or training is required – just your presence and your enthusiasm. Some tasks may include directing and encouraging participants around the course, handing out cups of water, assisting with registrations, selling merchandise and handing out fundraising packs so there is a job to suit you!
We’ll provide a briefing the week of the event and on the morning of the event so you can learn all about the task assigned to you. You will receive a volunteer certificate after the event season for your tremendous contribution!
Some of last year’s volunteers have described their experience as “extremely enjoyable” and said their “spirits were lifted by being in the presence of like-minded people” whilst knowing that they were helping to increase public awareness of dementia.
If this all sounds like fun to you we’d love to have you on-board!
You can register to volunteer by Expressing your Interest below or getting in touch with our Volunteer Coordinator, Tanith Blake on 07 3014 6635.
