About this opportunity

Furry Friends ARQ is a not-for-profit organisation located in SEQ dedicated to minimising the large number of companion animals killed every year in pounds and shelters; and to educate people about the benefits of responsible pet ownership. Unlike traditional shelter models, Furry Friends ARQ is wholly virtual, with animals being carefully placed with volunteer Foster Carers until they are adopted.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Regular posts for foster animals to obtain interest from possible adopters
  • Developing promotional posts including short stories and images
  • Maintaining a seven day schedule on Facebook and possibly other channels
  • Sharing of relevant content as and when required by the social schedule calendar
  • Attending regular Zoom meetings to liaise with the team
  • Receiving instructions and communicating with team via Facebook Workplace

Additional requirements

To be considered, you will have:

  • Passion for writing engaging social posts with flare and personality
  • Experience scheduling posts in advance
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Understanding of voice, tone and following branding requirements
  • Initiative to learn and use tools which help with content creation, scheduling and optimisation
  • Ability to create and edit graphics, manipulate photography using Adobe Photoshop, Canva or similar
  • Excellent written skills
  • A "can do" attitude
  • Ability to commit to this task for long term.

You will also have regular access to a computer with internet connection (at your own expense); initiative to work autonomously and remotely; and genuine desire and commitment to help rehome companion animals.

All applicants must be able to commit a minimum of 5 hours per week to the role. These hours are flexible, so long as the organisational needs as outline above are met.
