University of the Third Age (U3A) Pine Rivers Inc.
A tutor for U3A is more like a group leader than a lecturer or teacher. We share knowledge and skill on a peer exchange basis and no matter what your skill area there are usually others willing to interact with you around that. Classes are quite informal and often seem more like discussion groups. Learning is pursued without reference to criteria, qualifications, assessments or rewards.
We currently have a wide range of classes covering languages, sciences, computers, psychology, Creative Writing, Art and activities such as walking and cycling groups, piano club, cards, Ti Chi, Yoga and book club. Currently, our greatest need is for people willing to share their knowledge and facilitate groups in the areas of Arts, Humanities and Sciences such as:
This is a good opportunity for trainee group leaders or teachers to develop presentation skills or retired teachers and academics to keep active and share their knowledge with others keen to learn. Qualifications are not essential and amateur enthusiasts are welcome. We provide orientation, mentoring and training.
While not essential to the role of tutor, we also welcome volunteers interested in:
The tutor would be able to offer at least one term of the class or activity of two hours weekly, fortnightly or monthly and live in or near the Moreton Bay Regional Council area.
2-3 hours per week (or per fortnight/month), any day Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 4.00pm.
Orientation, mentoring and training available
