Established by Clem Jones AO, Ian Brusasco AO AM and David Muir AM in 1995, Foodbank Queensland is the largest hunger relief charity in the state. Foodbank Queensland sources millions of kilograms of food from farmers, manufacturers and retailers, and distributes this food to over 300 Food Relief Charities and 300 School Breakfast Programs to help Queenslanders in need. Foodbank’s operations also actively reduce food landfill, positively impacting our environment.

Foodbank Queensland’s Community Impact:

  • Feeding 48,000 Queenslanders in need, and 33,000 school children per week
  • Supporting 300 Food Relief Charities, and 300 School Breakfast Programs each year
  • Sourcing 14 million kilograms of food, distributed as 25 million meals equivalent each year
  • Reducing landfill CO2-e emissions by 26 million kilograms each year

Foodbank Queensland's Donation Sorters work as a team in our Food Distribution Centre, sorting mixed food donations from farms and retailers that arrive at Foodbank Queensland. You will improve the experience of visiting member charities, enabling them to easily access sorted food relief products and pre-packed orders.

TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Sorting through incoming food donations from donors and suppliers (including Fareshare meals & fresh produce)
  • Organising food relief products for presentation to our member charities
  • Sorting through Fareshare meals to allow distribution to our member charities
  • Upholding safe working practices
  • Manual handling, including lifting up to 15kg

Additional requirements

  • Heavy Lifting
  • National Police Certificate*
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Interest in reducing food insecurity in Queensland.
  • Knowledge and / or experience in manual handling (or ability to learn).
  • Work in a safe manner.

Time required

Four hour shifts are available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00am - 12:00pm **No weekends or evenings**
