About this opportunity

The purpose of the support line is to provide emotional support, information and/or referral - as determined by the caller. You will need to maintain an accurate record of calls and submit required information to the Arafmi office every month. We require basic counselling skills which includes the ability to listen, empathise and reflect feelings. Arafmi will provide training in basic counselling skills. (The length of this course depends on the level of skills and competencies that the volunteer already possesses).

Preferred volunteer characteristics:

  • Reliable with a mature outlook
  • Sound interpersonal skills
  • The ability to acquire knowledge and understanding of issues relating to CARERS of people with a mental health issue.
