About this opportunity

A house museum with a well-documented family & social history written by Florence, daughter of Hermann and Annie Neumann. Family treasures donated by the grandchildren of Hermann and Annie have contributed greatly to the authenticity of the museum. Furniture, photos and other items donated by the community are all relevant to either the Neumann family or the lifestyle of the community at the chosen time frame. The museum portrays the lifestyle, hobbies and business interests of the family, circa 1930. Annie’s Place Café offers light lunches, morning and afternoon teas for visitors to enjoy, sitting on the delightful verandah and gazing out toward the hundred year old Jacaranda tree in the adjacent park. We are a White 'i' Tourist Information Centre with an abundance of literature for visitors to take away with them and plan their adventures around the Lockyer Valley. Annie’s Place is manned by volunteers giving up 5 to 6 hours daily when rostered on, greeting and chatting to visitors from national and international shores. Volunteers also prepare food for the visitors i.e. sandwiches, quiche and salad, German style lunches, Devonshire teas, apple strudel, mango (real) smoothies and milkshakes, teas and coffees. If you think that you would like to join our happy group as a volunteer at Das Neumann Haus, or if you need to volunteer for eligibility to receive a Centrelink Benefit, please do not hesitate to contact us as we are an eligible ‘Work for the Dole’ placement centre. Our eligible Job Seeker number is 37121.
