We list volunteer opportunities on our website at, simply select the ‘Want to volunteer' button in the top right hand corner.

There you can use the buttons on the right to register and search for volunteer roles. This includes opportunities to help with arts, environmental conservation, sports, welfare or emergency services. You can help the homeless, children, animals, the elderly, refugees or people living with disabilities, and much more.

Once you’ve applied for a volunteer role, your contact details will be sent automatically to the nonprofit. At the same time, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

Whichever role you choose, you'll be helping Queensland communities.

Some considerations

It's important that you choose a volunteer role that's a good match for you. Here are a few questions you should consider:

• What are my motivations for volunteering?
• Is there a cause that is close to my heart?
• Are there particular skills I want to contribute or learn?
• How much time can I commit?

Are you an international student or visitor?

If you are an international visitor or student already in Australia, planning to come to Australia or seeking an invitation to volunteer in Australia, current government policy permits holders of Visitor Visas to undertake voluntary work subject to certain conditions. Further information can be obtained from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection website:

Are you a Centrelink client?

If you’re a Centrelink or Job Services Australia (JSA) client, Centrelink maintain their own database of approved not-for-profits that can engage clients in voluntary work required to meet their Centrelink participation/activity test. You will find many nonprofits with our service may already be approved by Centrelink. Please confirm your volunteering opportunities with your JSA or Centrelink client support. Please note: if you plan to volunteer as a Centrelink Approved Activity, you will need to register.
