Canefields Clubhouse

Canefields Clubhouse is a community based psycho-social rehabilitation and support service for adults with a lived experience of mental illness in the Logan City area. Clubhouse offers people (members) hope and opportunities to achieve their full potential and to live their best life in a safe, welcoming, and supportive peer based environment.

Canefields Clubhouse is one of more than 320 Clubhouses delivering the Clubhouse model worldwide. Members choose what they engage with and determine their own goals. Involvement is a central component of success and recovery.

Membership is voluntary and without time limits. Members play a key role in the day to day operations of Clubhouse as well as organising activities and functions.

Canefields Clubhouse operates under the Clubhouse International Standards which sees members attend as often as they can to fulfil the day-to-day tasks associated with running the Clubhouse. Members can choose to work in one of 5 Work Ordered Day units each day including:
- Catering
- Education
- Employment
- Administration, or
- Housing

Staff and members work together and side-by-side as colleagues. Work, education and social activities in the Clubhouse are meaningful and help members regain self-worth, confidence and purpose. Clubhouses also seeks paid employment opportunities in local businesses for members who want work and helps members become successful employees.

The emergence of Clubhouses around the world demonstrates that people with mental illness can successfully participate in society through education, employment and other social activities. The personal stories of members and their families and an increasing body of research provide evidence that Clubhouses provide a holistic, inspiring and cost-effective solution for people living with mental illness.

From humble beginnings in 2000, Canefields Clubhouse commenced operating with volunteers from a small private residence in Manilla Street, Beenleigh with zero funding, and has grown to where we are today – an Incorporated Association with Charity Status operating from a large and expanding premises. Now Canefields Clubhouse provides hundreds of members in our community with an opportunity to experience meaningful and productive lives during their recovery journey and beyond.

Canefields Clubhouse is one of fifteen (15) clubhouses in Australia and we invite you to come and join our Clubhouse movement and discover the magic of Clubhouse today!
