Volunteering Queensland is proud to release two new tools to help older people ensure their safety and wellbeing at times of disasters.

The ‘Disaster Preparedness for Older People’ project is funded from the Natural Disaster Resilience Program (NDRP), administered through the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning.

Volunteering Queensland and Rockhampton Regional Council have just completed a 12-month project facilitating the development of a unique and exciting volunteer initiative, the Rockhampton Region Volunteer Organisations Active in Disaster (VOAD) Consortium. The VOAD brings together rural and urban Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs) from across the Rockhampton region, all with one purpose, stepping up to volunteer during disasters. The community groups are also excited about the prospect of being able to contribute to the long-term recovery of their community after disaster.
