The Queensland Human Rights Commission has been conducting a review of the state’s Anti-Discrimination Act. Volunteering Queensland provided a brief submission in response to the draft legislation. The key focus of our response was to welcome the inclusion of work done “on a voluntary or unpaid basis” under the formal definition of “work” which would be covered by the updated and more comprehensive anti-discrimination provisions contained within the draft legislation and encourage that this be retained in the final version of the legislation that is submitted to the Parliament.
