Volunteer-involving organisations across the state are the backbone of many sectors; providing opportunities for volunteers to support organisations in community services, education and training, support of young people, seniors and disability services, as well as family services, art, culture and environment. 

We understand that recruiting, managing and celebrating volunteers is best done with support and resources. That’s why Volunteering Queensland offers membership for all volunteer-involving organisations to ensure training, resources, recruitment and management practices are in place to fast-track success.

*Members of Volunteering Queensland automatically become Associate Members of Volunteering Australia at no charge. As an Associate Member of Volunteering Australia, your organisation will benefit from opportunities to access, use or utilise services made available by Volunteering Australia, participate in policy work, input into Volunteering Australia’s strategic plan, and receive notice, attend and speak at general meetings of Volunteering Australia (except in relation to matters which are subject to reserved voting rights).

  • Contribute to volunteering policy and advocacy work with government and other decision-makers through consultations, forums, surveys and focus groups
  • Request letters of support for funding, grant and sponsorship applications.

Who can become a member?

Any organisation that engages volunteers in Queensland can apply to become a member of Volunteering Queensland.

  • Full Membership has been designed for not-for-profit, non-government organisations
  • Associate Membership is for organisations who engage volunteers, but fall outside the category of not-for-profit, non-government. We welcome Councils, government agencies, educational institutions and businesses to apply for Associate Membership. Associate members access the same great benefits as Full Members, with the exception of voting rights.

Membership is for your whole organisation and subscription fees are linked to your organisation’s annual turnover:

Queensland Volunteer Involving Organisation Register

The Queensland VIO Register, a partnership initiative of Volunteering Queensland and My Community Directory (MCD), is Queensland’s biggest volunteering network. To have your organisation listed on the Register, you’ll first need an MCD listing. If your organisation does not currently have a listing, we’ll create one on your behalf. VQ member listings on the Register include a special VQ member badge, representing your commitment to volunteering.

Please note, applications are subject to approval in order to establish that the purpose of the applying organisation in no way conflicts with the objectives of Volunteering Queensland. You will not be able to login or use our online volunteer referral service until your application has been approved. The outcome of your application will be emailed to you within 5 business days or contact made with you for clarification.
