Celebrating the next generation of volunteers

10–16 August 2026

National Youth Volunteer Week celebrates the energy, ideas and impact of young volunteers across Australia.

The week encourages more young people to discover volunteering, celebrates the contributions of existing young volunteers, and supports organisations to create meaningful, inclusive opportunities where young people can thrive.

Why the name change?

Formerly known as National Student Volunteer Week, the campaign has evolved to recognise the many ways young people contribute to their communities.

Whether through schools, universities, community organisations, sporting clubs, environmental groups, emergency services or informal volunteering, young people are helping shape stronger, more connected communities every day.

Who is National Youth Volunteer Week for?

National Youth Volunteer Week celebrates young volunteers aged 12 to 24.

The campaign recognises that volunteering looks different at different stages of life, and encourages opportunities that are appropriate, safe and meaningful for each age group.

While National Youth Volunteer Week focuses on young volunteers, everyone has a role to play in recognising, supporting and celebrating youth volunteering.
