They said that Volunteering is in in 2026, but did they mention the selfless act could land you festival tickets and freebies in the process? You can mix work and play and help support your community this year by giving your time in return for access to blooming sunflower fields, quirky art exhibits, live music and much much more!
There are several exciting festivals across Queensland that offer volunteering opportunities in exchange for tickets, free food and more, all while doing something meaningful in your community.

Kalbar Sunflower Festival is top of my list for 2026. The idea stemmed from a history of drought, with these Scenic Rim farmers turning to event planners in the hopes of bringing happiness to Queenslanders. Picture yourself in the middle of a field of a million sunflowers, relaxing on a blanket listening to live music under the sunflowers or browsing market stalls selling all things sunflower. The volunteers at this festival help spread pure happiness from cutting and bunching the beautiful sunflowers to taking photos on visitors’ phones and scanning tickets. In return, a ticket to the joy and a bundle to bring home. Help spread the happiness this May at the Kalbar Sunflower Festival.
Rather be line dancing, bull riding and listening to incredible live music? You can become part of The Muster Family by volunteering at The Gympie Music Muster. This four-day festival held in August this year is so much more than great music; with local markets, dancing workshops and unforgettable daily events. By volunteering your time, you gain access to all this incredible muster has to offer.
Six days of free music, mindfulness and meditation over New Years? Built for rejuvenation, Woodford Folk Festival forms a village like no other, offering the perfect way to celebrate the end of a year under the stars. Woodfordia, is a community-driven organisation dedicated to celebrating life through creative events and festivals. The six day festival over New Years hosts 2800 volunteers every year, with hundreds of roles available ranging from baristas and bartenders to volunteers helping set up in the weeks prior. All volunteers receive a ticket to the festival, including camping onsite in exchange for your contribution of time and energy.

What other festivals can you volunteer at this year?
Volunteers make festivals run. Whether it be helping set up for an event, handing out water bottles during or helping celebrate arts and culture in small towns across Queensland, there are several festival volunteer opportunities in 2026 with some pretty sweet rewards. These experiences may offer a free ticket to the action, but the real reward is by far the overall experience of volunteering and giving back to our community!
