Volunteers wear socks.
Everyday people.
Extraordinary Impact.
Across Queensland, millions of volunteers quietly make a difference every day.
They coach local sporting teams. Deliver meals. Support people during disasters. They don’t wear capes. But they do wear socks.
And together they make our communities stronger, safer and more connected.
Join the Heroes Wear Socks campaign
Whether you’re a volunteer, part of a volunteering organisation, or someone who values the people who make our communities better, we’d love you to get involved.
How to take part
1. Wear your socks
Put on your Volunteering Queensland socks – or your favourite pair of socks that represent your volunteering spirit. Take a photo, share it on social media, tag @Volunteeringqld, and use the hashtags #everydayheroes #heroeswearsocks
Tips for your caption
In your caption, you could include info about what you do as a volunteer and where you volunteer if you feel comfortable sharing. Your social media caption could include messaging such as:
- Volunteers are everyday heroes making an extraordinary impact. They may not wear capes, but they do wear socks.
- Not all heroes wear capes, but they do wear socks. I’m donning my volunteer socks today and so can you
- Extraordinary impact starts with ordinary people. You can make an impact as a volunteer in your community. Get started by putting your socks on.
- These socks have superpowers. They help Queensland volunteers do extraordinary things.
2. Celebrate an everyday hero
Volunteers are everyday heroes, doing everyday things, making an extraordinary impact. Celebrate an everyday hero by sharing a story, either yours or someone you know who goes above and beyond for their community.
3. Show your support
Share this campaign with your family, friends, workplace, school, club or community group and recognise Queensland’s Everyday Heroes. We’ve created social media tiles and suggested captions to make this easy for you. p.s you can find the captions in the notes section of the Canva tiles.
