About this opportunity

Are you interested in sharing your passion of our beautiful city and historic buildings with local residents and visitors from interstate and overseas? We are currently seeking Tour Guides and House & Program Support volunteers to work onsite at Newstead House.

Our volunteers:

  • Provide high-quality customer service ensuring visitors feel welcome and informed.
  • Provide support with the opening of the house and monitor rooms whilst the house is open to visitors.
  • Support the delivery of education programming at Newstead House.
  • Receive training to deliver informative and enjoyable guided tours to visitors.

Time Required

At Newstead House, the guided tours typically run for 90 minutes so volunteer guides may be in attendance approx. 2.5 - 3 hours. The Newstead House Program Support volunteers may be in attendance for approx. 3 hours. Initially the house will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with house & program support and tours on other days in accordance with bookings.

Training

An induction and training program will take place over a number of days in late May or early June 2024. After this week, a number of practice tours will take place to help our guides prepare and rehearse.
