The ACVVS program brings together kind-hearted volunteers with seniors seeking a little extra companionship in their lives. One hour volunteer visits are carried out weekly or fortnightly. Volunteer Visitors meet with people of all abilities. Visiting time may include enjoying a cuppa and a chat, playing a game, listening to music or reading, discussing current events, having a walk, gardening, doing puzzles or having a game of cards, no care services or chores required.
Volunteers need to be 18 years+ and have genuine empathy, understanding and enjoyment of the company of older people. Be committed to developing a strong and ongoing relationship with an older person. Be reliable and flexible. Be able to volunteer with limited supervision. Undertake orientation and required training (a National Police Certificate is acquired as part of the training at no cost to the volunteer).
Community ServicesOne (1) hour per visit required for twenty (20) visits minimum per annum. Days and times are flexible depending on your availability and those of your matched friend.
Orientation training is mandatory. Attend training as required.
