About this opportunity

Each year, Childhood Cancer Support holds a free camping getaway for families of children who are presently facing or have faced childhood cancer. Filled with fun activities suitable for the whole family, Camp Crystal is a weekend escape for families to recharge and remind themselves that there is a life to be lived outside of hospital appointments and treatments and a place where you can come to enjoy yourself, relax and reflect.

It’s our volunteers that really make Camp Crystal a magical escape for families of children impacted by cancer.

We are on the lookout for some craft and activity volunteers. People that love craft and helping kids or love to be outdoors and active.

If you’re available from 12:30pm Friday 5th April to 4:00pm Sunday 7th April 2024 (School Holidays) and would like to be a part of this year’s camp, we’d love your help and support!

Camp Crystal has again partnered with Newmans Own Foundation and will be held at the QCCC Mt Tamborine.

Please note all volunteers must have a current blue card. Volunteers will also need to complete an online Child Safe training course, provided by Childhood Cancer Support.

While we wish we could open the doors to everyone, logistics and cost limit the number of volunteers we can have at camp. Preference will be given to volunteers who can meet some or all the following needs:

  • Can attend the entire weekend of camp - 12.30pm Friday 5th - 4:00pm Sunday 7th April 2024.
  • Happy to assist with a range of children's activities.
  • Have special skills suitable for camp.
  • Supervision of under 5 age experience.
  • Craft experience.

All meals, including morning and afternoon tea, will be provided. Volunteers will be provided a bunk bed. Volunteers will need to supply their own linen, blankets, and pillow.

To apply for this opportunity please complete the online Application Form, which will be emailed to you.

Application forms must be received by close of business 29th Feb 2024. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Childhood Cancer Support on 07 3844 5000.
