About this opportunity

Caring for an ill or injured child in hospital can take a toll on family members. Our two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, in the Paediatric Unit and the Newborn Care Unit, at the Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH), offer a comfortable space for families to take a break from the clinical environment.

As a Gold Coast Family Room volunteer you will provide a warm welcome to all visitors to our Family Rooms.

Each shift is varied but may include:

  1. Showing families what's on offer in the Family Rooms,
  2. How to sign in,
  3. Turning over the two overnight sleep rooms,
  4. Ensuring a clean and tidy environment that is stocked with supplies and providing a listening ear and friendly smile.

It is important to be aware this is not childcare, and all children must be accompanied by adults in our Family Rooms.
