Cooper House in Wheller Gardens Aged Care Community at Chermside is seeking volunteers to assist with the resident lifestyle program. This program includes bingo, crafts, happy hour, ice cream socials and so much more! These activities assist residents with socialising, promoting a sense of well-being and encouraging community connectedness. Most importantly they bring joy and create smiles! Activity Assistants can help residents by: * Assisting staff with preparing and facilitating daily activities. * Assisting staff with tidying up after activities. * Supporting residents throughout the group activity. * Bringing creativity, sharing life experiences, and offering your unique skills. * Support residents by fostering connection, purpose, and meaningful engagement. * Communicating resident feedback back to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment. This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents with dementia. This role is especially suited to individuals who have experience with dementia or are willing to learn how to support and connect with residents living with dementia. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills. Volunteer hours are available across a range of shifts, including: Monday: Full day (9am–4pm) Thursday: Afternoon (12pm–4pm) Friday: Full day (9am–4pm) Volunteer times are negotiated prior to commencement. This program is located within the Wheller Gardens Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship. Security checks required for the position are supplied and paid for by Wesley Mission Queensland. This includes an NDIS Worker Screening Card. All applicants will be required to complete an online registration form which will be forwarded to them when their expression of interest is lodged with us. To be in this role you will be required to follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof you have received your COVID-19 vaccinations before commencement. Personal Protective Equipment may also be required.
