The Yeronga State High School English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) Program supports the English language development of students who have come from language backgrounds other than English.
Our 'English as an Additional Language or Dialect' Unit requires volunteers to provide support in classroom on a one-on-one basis. Classes include English, Maths and Science, as well as Hospitality, the Arts, Manual Arts, IT and Business Studies. We thank you for your application.
Skills required: Good communication skills, able to speak clearly and slowly, print words, sound out letters.
Volunteer characteristics: Patience, empathy, ability to encourage and support.
Skills gained: Interpersonal development, communication, assisting others, following and giving simple directions while improving your tutoring skills. Enjoyment of working in a supportive educational and multicultural environment.
