About this opportunity

Address: 1/29-37 Moreton Bay Road, Capalaba, 4157 headspace Capalaba is currently seeking Family and Friends Reference Group volunteers. The headspace Capalaba Family and Friends Reference Group is made up of people with lived experience of supporting a young person with mental health challenges. The group advocates for the role, contribution and needs of families and friends across all headspace Capalaba programs and services. Family and Friends Reference Group volunteers are involved in: * Monthly meetings at headspace Capalaba that may extend beyond standard business hours (for example until 6 or 7pm) * Advising on various issues and topics relating to Youth Mental Health and the headspace Capalaba centre * Participating and assisting in community events and projects * Developing and delivering mental health awareness presentations * Maintaining and updating resources * Participating in target group decisions * Participating in teleconferences and email discussions between in-person meetings and events to progress certain projects * Networking including promoting the program through word of mouth and leaving pamphlets at appropriate locations (e.g. community centres etc). This group is for people aged 18 years or older who want to support and help lead the community by providing feedback and input into processes, systems and service delivery at headspace Capalaba. Security checks required for the position are supplied and paid for by Wesley Mission Queensland. All applicants will be required to complete an online registration form which will be forwarded to them when their expression of interest is lodged with us. To be in this role you will be required to follow a COVID-19 safe work plan.
