Volunteer Guides and House & Shop Support - Newstead House and Roma Street Parkland

Are you interested in sharing your passion of our beautiful city and historic buildings with local residents and visitors from interstate and overseas? We are currently seeking Tour Guides, House Support and Shop Support volunteers to work onsite at Newstead House, Brisbane's oldest domestic dwelling dating back to 1846. More of a nature and horticulture enthusiast? Luckily, we are also on the hunt for Tour Guides at Roma Street Parkland.   We are City Parklands Services At City Parklands, a wholly owned subsidiary of Brisbane City Council, we are passionate about parks, public places and people to deliver integrated place management for Roma Street Parkland, South Bank Parklands, Victoria Park/Barrambin, Anzac Square, Post Office Square and Newstead House on behalf of Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government. As the trusted custodians of these premier parklands and precincts, we acknowledge the responsibility to manage, enhance and enliven these beautiful places effectively and efficiently.   About the role Pick and choose which option works best for you! Can’t decide? Apply for both! These roles will:

• Provide high-quality customer service ensuring visitors feel welcome and informed.
• Receive training to deliver informative and enjoyable guided tours to visitors.
• Provide support with the opening of the house and monitor rooms whilst the house is open to visitors (Newstead House only).
• Support the delivery of education programming at Newstead House (Newstead House only).
• Operating the cash register or handling payments. Sorting, displaying and restocking goods. 

  Hours of work at Newstead House:

• Friday 9:30am to 2:30pm
• Sundays 9:30am to 1pm or 1pm to 4:30pm.
• Any other time of the week for group bookings or events.

  Hours of work at Roma Street Parkland:

• 9:00am to 12:30pm or 12:00pm to 3:00pm any day of the week.

  About you The ideal candidate will:

• Be able to commit to a 12-month opportunity. 
• Have physical stamina for walking or standing for long periods.
• Have a high level of verbal and interpersonal skills.
