Fossung Multicultural & Education Services (FMAES) is a registered charity supporting multicultural, migrant and refugee families across Ipswich, Logan, Springfield, Goodna, Redbank Plains and Inala. We provide two main service streams:
Education Support (free homework support, low-cost tutoring, mathematics program, youth mentoring) and
Wellbeing Support (food and essential relief, mental health and cultural wellbeing assistance).
We are looking for friendly and confident volunteers to join our outreach team. Volunteers will attend shopping centres, community hubs and local events to promote FMAES programs, hand out flyers, speak with families, and help them understand the services available. You will work in pairs and receive training before starting.
This role suits someone who enjoys engaging with people, has good communication skills, and is passionate about helping young people and families. Volunteers will learn community engagement skills, gain confidence speaking with diverse groups, and make a meaningful impact by connecting families to programs that support their education and wellbeing.
* May be arranged by the organisation. Details will be provided after you express your interest.
Community ServicesVolunteers are needed for short 2–3 hour outreach shifts, mainly on weekday afternoons (3–6pm) and some Saturdays. You can choose the days that suit you. The role involves attending various shopping centres and community hubs across Ipswich, Logan, Springfield, Goodna, Redbank Plains and Inala. Volunteers can contribute weekly or fortnightly depending on availability.
Volunteers receive a short induction covering FMAES programs, key messages, cultural safety, child-safe practices and outreach procedures. Training includes how to speak with families, use QR sign-ups and work safely in public locations.
Pre-approved travel costs such as public transport fares, fuel or parking for outreach shifts may be reimbursed.
