The Volunteering Queensland team was proud to participate in The Douglas Grass + Roots Network, an initiative of The Douglas Shire Council, Volunteering Qld, and Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre. The aim of the network is to connect volunteer organisations, to empower them to recruit, retain and manage volunteers and for the community to connect with the right volunteer organisation for their interests.
The Volunteer Network Launch was held on 13 September at at the Sugar Wharf which will be an opportunity to kick off the Douglas Grass + Roots Network and to promote the goals, plans and timeline as the network moves forward.
Following on from the launch, a volunteer expo morning in George Davis Park in Mossman will be held on the 15 of October to highlight opportunities to volunteer. This event will include Volunteer Organisation stalls, live entertainment, and look forward to a bit of friendly competition with games and challenges for the attendees throughout the day.
We look forward to seeing our FNQ friends there!
