Volunteering Queensland is sad to bid farewell to two talented, giving Directors of our Board, Brett Williamson and Scott Black, both of whom have contributed immensely to our organisations over the past years.

It has been a privilege and pleasure to work with both Brett and Scott and to have them as part of the Volunteering Queensland family. We wish them both all the very best with their future endeavours.  

BRETT WILLIAMSON OAM – FAREWELL 

Volunteering Queensland sincerely thanks Brett for his pivotal and exemplary leadership as President of Volunteering Queensland over the past three and one half years. Brett’s vision, skills, knowledge, generosity and unwavering belief in the value and important place of volunteering has been an inspiration.

Brett’s vast career and enormous contribution and commitment to volunteering included appointments as CEO of Surf Life Saving Queensland, Surf Lifesaving Australia and Volunteering Australia brought with them deep insights into volunteering. Volunteering Queensland has been a  grateful recipient of Brett’s rich experience, wisdom and support. Brett resigned from the Board in May 2021. He will be greatly missed. We wish Brett all the very best for the future. 

SCOTT BLACK – FAREWELL 

Volunteering Queensland extends heartfelt thanks to Scott Black for his enormous contribution and generosity in sharing his vast experience, diverse skills, and insightful knowledge all of which have helped strengthen and grow Volunteering Queensland to better serve Queensland’s volunteering sector. During his three years as a Director of our Board.

Scott brought with him a wealth of knowledge into board governance, legislation, policies and good volunteer management. Scott ‘walks the talk’ with his giving and making a difference. His passion for volunteering and irrepressible creative spirit are infectious and have been a great asset to our organisation.

Scott resigned from the Board in May 2021. His input and influence have been impactful and greatly valued by all at Volunteering Queensland and will be missed. We wish Scott all the very best with his future endeavours. 

BRETT JOHNSON – WELCOME 

Following the resignation of Brett Williamson OAM, the Board of Volunteering Queensland has elected Brett Johnson to the position of President. Brett joined the Board of Volunteering Queensland almost six years ago, serving as Vice President for the past three and one half years. 

Hearty congratulations are extended to Brett on his appointment.

Brett has worked in numerous diverse roles spanning the community services (not-for-profit) and local government sectors. He brings a wealth of skill, experience and knowledge to the role and has a strong passion for social justice. Brett has shown himself to be a natural leader and aspires to work in developing a greater appreciation for and availability of community wellbeing programs and initiatives. Brett has been a member of several key internal and external committees undertaking strategic, research, developmental and change management projects.

All at Volunteering Queensland are excited to work with Brett as we move forward together in service to achieve the vision and purpose of Volunteering Queensland.
