The network meeting will feature an exciting session led by Ciska Burrie from The Salvation Army (read more about Ciska below). Ciska will explore how to conduct a values audit within your organisation and explain how integral your organisational values are in creating greater understanding of volunteers, as well as internal program alignment.

You’ll learn how to better advocate for volunteering by leveraging your organisation’s existing values framework and walk away with a practical audit tool you can use in your workplace.

We’ll also hear Lightning Talks from other volunteer leaders, sharing innovations and time-saving wins that have worked in their organisations.

Plus, lots of time for networking, collaboration and sharing of ideas.

With over 15 years of volunteer management experience across large for-purpose organisations—including RSPCA Victoria and Australian Red Cross— Ciska Burrie is currently working with Volunteer Resources team at The Salvation Army (TSA) Australia.

Earlier in her tenure at TSA, Ciska coached leaders on volunteer involvement best practice and compliance across Victoria and then Queensland. In her current role as Volunteer Resources Developer, she leads the development of learning and practical resources for those managing volunteers across the organisation, as well as communications for key volunteer recognition weeks and days, such as National Volunteer Week, International Volunteer Day, and International Volunteer Managers Day. She also contributes to various working groups, focused on inclusive recruitment for LGBTIQA+ and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants and workers, along with Cultural Learning across the organisation.

Outside of her role at TSA, Ciska continues to volunteer with smaller organisations, helping them develop or review their volunteer programs—a contribution that fuels her passion for seeing volunteers and their leaders recognised for their importance and impact.
