About this opportunity

Calling all volunteers, with our sporting programs in full swing we need you.

Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association is a not-for-profit organisation that has been helping Queenslanders with a disability lead active, healthy lives and achieve their sporting dreams since 1977.

Wheelchair Basketball is based on the sport of basketball, with minor adaptations to the rules to reflect the use of wheelchairs. It is played on standard basketball courts with standard height rings and backboards.

The game was originally designed as a rehabilitation and recreation activity for people with a spinal cord injury. It is now enjoyed by people of all abilities.

With only a short time left until tip-off of the CLASSICS: Queensland Wheelchair Basketball Championships 2017, the Association is pleased to launch the application process to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic team of volunteers in order to support the successful delivery of this sporting event.

The event will feature three (3) days of intense and hard-hitting competition as elite athletes from all over Queensland showcase the elite skill and athleticism that make wheelchair basketball a thrilling spectator sport and one of the most popular sports for athletes with a disability in the world.
