The Active Volunteering Non-Accredited Course allows students to develop an understanding of the concepts of service, volunteering and community work in a less formal setting than completion of an Accredited Course.
The course has a strong focus on volunteering. Students gain an understanding through engagement with the community, both within and external to their school. This course is recommended for students seeking reconnection and a sense of belonging to local communities.
Students develop a range of skills through the course which include:
Students undertake trainer led self-paced learning led by a facilitator through the school.
Students will be provided with resources and support needed to guide them to complete the course.
There are no entry requirements for this course however some organisations may be required to undergo relevant background checks. Where volunteering works is undertaken with organisations external to the school, students may be required to undertake background checks (e.g., Blue Card).
It would be advantageous for students to have internet connectivity, but this is not an entry requirement.
The typical completion time of the course is 6 months to 12 months.
As a part of their study, students may complete volunteer work – either within the school community or with approved external not for profit, charity, community, or organisation with a structured volunteer program.
The course contains a total of 5 units.
