The Board of Volunteering Queensland Inc. is a skills-based Board that plays a critical role in governing and driving the strategic direction and transformation of the organisation.

The Board implements an annual succession plan and self-evaluation review that ensures Board Directors are aligned to the strategic direction, values and needs of the organisation.

The Board of Directors of Volunteering Queensland Inc. is currently looking to redraft its Constitution, to transition to being a Company Limited by Guarantee.

Changing to be a Company Limited by Guarantee will be transformative for Volunteering Queensland. As such, current Board Directors have resolved to hold over the election of new Board Directors to fill vacant positions until the redraft of the Constitution is complete. Changing to a Company Limited by Guarantee will have a significant change to Director responsibilities and Board Directors need to be well aware of these before committing to becoming a Board Director.

Nominations for Board positions will be announced and opened when the redrafted Constitution is presented to and ratified by the membership of Volunteering Queensland.

To ensure transparency and legitimacy the current Board has sought legal advice on this matter and would like to thank the talented team at Hall & Wilcox for their generous pro bono advice and good counsel on this matter.

Directors of the Board thank Volunteering Queensland’s members for their patience and understanding during this key transition and look forward to the appointment of a vibrant, skilled Board under the new Constitution. A Board to govern and lead Volunteering Queensland to successfully shape the future of volunteering in Queensland.

Should further information be required, please contact Volunteering Queensland Inc. CEO, Mara Basanovic – 07 3002 7600 or mara.basanovic@volunteeringqld.org.au

The Board is proposing that the following candidate be re-elected for one year to fill one available position:

Brett Johnson, who currently serves in the position of President of the Board of Volunteering Queensland Inc. having completed seven years of a permissible eight-year tenure as Board Director is eligible for re-election for one additional year as Director of Volunteering Queensland Inc.

Brett has held the position of President for two years and previously served as Vice President of Volunteering Queensland Inc. for four years, and Secretary od the organisation for one year. During the past seven years, Brett has also taken on key roles as Chair of the Governance, Risk and Finance and Marketing and Relationship Committees.

He led the development and implementation of the 2017 – 2021 Volunteering Queensland Inc. strategic plan and actively contributed to the development and application of Volunteering Queensland Inc.’s 2022 – 2026 strategic plan.

As the number of nominated candidates for election as Directors, is equal to or less than the number of vacancies on the Board, it is recommended by the Board and declared that this candidate be duly elected as Director in accordance with his nomination. Should further information be required, please contact Volunteering Queensland Inc. CEO, Mara Basanovic – 07 3002 7600 or mara.basanovic@volunteeringqld.org.au
