Advocacy

Volunteering Queensland is the state’s peak body for advancing and promoting volunteering.

In this role, we advocate for the rights, conditions and welfare of Queensland’s volunteers and the organisations they support. We collaborate with the government and other stakeholders to provide strategic advice on how their decisions impact the volunteering sector. This collaboration sees Volunteering Queensland working formally, making submissions and sitting on reference panels, and informally, fostering a culture that recognises volunteerism among decision-makers.

Research

Our state is unique – and our volunteering sector has unique challenges, successes and opportunities. Volunteering Queensland’s work is informed by research and consultation with volunteers and volunteer involving organisations at all levels. We combine our local knowledge with participation in national volunteering networks to pursue the best results possible for Queensland’s volunteer sector.

State of Volunteering in Queensland 2024

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who shared, promoted, and responded to our Volunteer Manager Survey for the State of Volunteering in Queensland 2024 Report. We couldn’t have done it without your support. The survey closed on 2 August 2023 with a record number of responses.

We also wish to express our thanks to those who took part in the General Survey on volunteering. This survey was conducted by the Institute of Project Management in parallel with the Volunteer Manager Survey. More than 1,500 people from a cross-section of Queensland shared their voice.

Our data analysis is currently underway. The State of Volunteering in Queensland 2024 Report will be freely available from May of 2024 and used to support your work and Queensland’s volunteers.  Meanwhile, please refer to the previous State of Volunteering in Queensland report below.
